Pixel Imperfection
I just read this (titled “Pixel Imperfection “), where Jon says:
Three cosmetic flaws that, more than anything, disclose the author’s continued descent towards the final (”Siracusa”) level of interface design neurosis/obsession.
Descent? Dude, you’re already there.
He does point out three real flaws in Mac OS X’s graphics. The first one, though, isn’t quite a flaw in my book. (If you read the article, then consider the holes that rulers have so that they can be placed inside three ring binders and you’ll know what the “splotch” is probably meant to be.) I have to admit that, despite the possibly excessive realism demonstrated in this icon, I do like it better without the hole (or splotch, if you prefer).
These flaws are the sort of thing you’d probably never notice unless someone pointed them out to you. And once you’ve seen them, they’ll annoy you forever, or until Apple fixes them. So don’t read the article if you prefer to remain blissfully unaware.
And as if I needed more of those, anyway!
For example, I’ve got this needlepoint thing done by my grandma hanging in the kitchen. Take a close look at it, and you’ll notice that something is wrong:

Believe it or not, most people never notice this flaw if you don’t point it out to them. If I ever decide to get rid of it, I’m giving it to the relative who pointed it out to me. It would “gerve” him right.
