I know a secret, but I can’t tell you. It’s not like that makes me special or anything, though. Even though I can’t tell you, I think it is OK for me to give a hint. So maybe you’ll be able to figure it out.

Here’s what I will tell you: illumineX is about to acquire another Mac OS X software developer. The product line will soon be expanding. What I won’t tell you is who it is.

And here’s the clue: there’s a color that’s particularly prominent in the illumineX branding. If you go about 90 degrees around the color wheel (a hue shift), then you get the prominent color of the company we’re about to acquire. They use the color a lot in their GUIs and web site. Go another 90 degrees in the same direction around the color wheel and you’ll be close to another color that figures prominently in their web site design.

Well, that’s all I’m gonna say. A few of my friends already know who it is, so please don’t say anything in comments if you already know. This is a done deal, and we’ll be making the announcement soon, so it’s not like I’ll be leaving you hanging for long. (And maybe I’ll give out another hint or two as the announcement approaches, too. I can think of two other good clues…but after those the answer will probably be blatantly obvious.)

Oh, and how does this impact everyone? Well for the customers of illumineX and the other company’s customers, we’re hoping it will make things better. We’ve got a lot of neat things planned for the next few months. For me, it means I’ll be insanely busy, especially for the near term. I have an excess of work to do — I hope I survive!
