Give Him a Hand

With his first birthday rapidly approaching, Joseph has learned how to clap his hands. And he does it a lot. When you do something for him that he likes, he claps his hands. When you get excited with him, he claps his hands. When he does something he’s proud of, he claps his hands. And if you just say “yay!” to him, he claps his hands.

He’s little, so there’s no sound yet, even though his hands do connect. And there’s always an impish grin to accompany the action. He sure looks cute doing it!

Oh, and this does not replace what we call “flapping”, where he wildly flails his arms and legs when he sees something that’s exciting to him. This is in addition to flapping. One thing is for sure: it’s easy to tell when he’s in a great mood!
